Help us change the perception of the Tutoring Profession - by Chris Sanders MA, Board Member. July 17

Dear Members

You may have seen – or heard the fall-out from – an article published by the BBC early July.

These sort of stories – small in number and quite possibly exaggerated in content – does not accurately reflect the reality of the sector in terms of the perceptions they create and reinforce.

Whilst Adam responded on Twitter , the best way for us to counter this is provide the media with a steady flow of stories that reflect the wider world and the power of tutoring within it. We have a professional PR team ready and waiting to put this type of story into the media; what we need from you are the stories themselves.

If you have a story to share, all we need from you is your name and telephone number. We will then contact you to take down the details of the story and craft a piece worthy of news coverage. Any anonymity required will, of course, be respected.

Just drop an email to csanders@thetutorsassociation.org.uk and we will take it from there.

One of TTA’s key missions is to get tutoring perceived and accepted as a normal part of the education landscape. In order to do this, we need to have tutoring seen as available to all, and good for all. The more we can promote the diversity of our profession, the faster that perception will be created, and the more of us who can take on the role of ‘Ambassador’ for the profession, the better.
Please take the time if you can to respond.

We look forward to hearing from you.
