Celebrate Day of The Dead and network with other Tutors

Medesthai are supporting the work of the Tutors’ Association by offering Friday 3rd of November as a base for a social gathering for tutors in and around London, free of charge.

The event will be hosted during Fernanda Cortes’ eponymous first solo exhibition, MITLA: Place of the Dead, produced and sponsored by Medesthai, a fresh and modern reimagining of a 3,000 year old observance, Día de Muertos, the Mexican Day of the Dead.

67 York Street Gallery will showcase Cortes' New Collection 17/18 of ceramics in an installation that
highlights Cortes’ profound evolution since the Abraaj RCA Innovation Scholar showcase last
year. Her new collection provokes powerful personal responses and has inspired more formal
responses ranging from dance to spoken word.

Challenging the distinction between “crafts” and “specialist artistic disciplines” and defying notions that separate art from science, Cortes also forms key creative cross-cultural and interdisciplinary
• Japanese Butoh master, Marie-Gabrielle Rotie has choreographed a curated response to MITLA,
debuting on 30 October.
• On 3 November, Cortes and archaeologist Kathleen Faccia will address, “Bone and Stone”.
• These events are part of a series at Regent’s University, Making Meaning, which centres on
themes that both inform and arise from Cortes’ work.
