The Good Schools Guide

The Good Schools Guide, now 35 years old, helps parents in every aspect of choosing the best education for their children – including finding the right tutor. To this end, we now review 50+ tutor agencies and are looking to grow this further.

As with schools, there is no fee for being reviewed – our impartiality is the reason our readers trust us. Moreover, tutor companies overwhelmingly tell us they found the review process a positive experience: ‘At Keystone, we found Kate and The Good Schools Guide to be comprehensive, professional, nuanced and fair. Two big thumbs up’ (Keystone). ‘The investigation was clear and well-structured, and it was very easy to complete. It consisted, primarily, of a questionnaire and an interview, neither of which were onerous. The whole process took no longer than a month, and working the staff team at the Good Schools Guide were very friendly and efficient. Since our review was published, the PR impact has been brilliant; our agency has grown in size and our revenue has increased by 40 per cent’ (Watling Tutors). ‘Both current clients and new clients find it very reassuring that we have been reviewed by the Good Schools Guide and we feel that it has added a certain validity to the company’ (Katie Jayne Tutors).

Please note that we only review companies that are over two years old and have 20+ tutors (all DBS checked, all interviewed) serving 20+ families.

On our new website, due to launch in 2024, our tutor agency reviews will be searchable (eg 11+ in-person tutoring at £100 an hour in Chelsea; GCSE revision in maths online at £50 an hour; mentoring by a company which is a member of TTA etc), as well as displaying more detailed information about each company.
