Dear Members,
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break over the festive period. As we step into 2025, The Tutors’ Association is making good progress in supporting our members and strengthening the tuition sector.
We are pleased to announce the successful rollout of new software that allows us to automatically check DBS status for members and corporate-linked tutors. This is a major step forward in our commitment to safeguarding and professionalism in tuition. The service is completely free for all corporate members to use with their tutors, helping to streamline compliance and ensure that high standards are upheld across the sector. Our engagement with government also continues, with a focus on advocating for mandatory Enhanced DBS Checks and access to teacher prohibition lists for tuition professionals. We remain in active discussions with the Department for Education to ensure that safeguarding provisions in our sector are robust, practical, and effective.
On the international and business development front, TTA had a highly successful presence at Bett 2025, where we connected with a wide range of existing and prospective members, suppliers, and potential partners. Our involvement in this global education event underscores our commitment to expanding opportunities for tutors and tuition businesses alike. In addition, our Treasurer, Chris Wordsworth, represented TTA at StudyWorld Manchester, strengthening our links with international education agents on behalf of members who subscribed to participate. These connections will be invaluable in opening up new opportunities for tuition providers looking to expand their global reach.
As ever, we continue to support both individual and corporate members with essential services such as business compliance, mediated dispute resolution, and a wide range of free or discounted benefits. We are committed to ensuring that TTA membership remains as valuable and impactful as possible.
Finally, we are eagerly looking forward to the National Tutoring Awards 2025. With record nominations and an exciting venue, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before. We encourage all members to get involved, celebrate excellence in the tuition sector, and take advantage of the fantastic networking opportunities the awards provide.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement and we look forward to seeing you at TTA events throughout 2025.
Warm regards,
John Nichols
President, The Tutors’ Association
