What an incredible three days at StudyWorld Manchester! It was truly eye-opening to connect with so many passionate professionals working across international education. I had the pleasure of speaking with agents from all over the world, including Georgia, Turkey, Italy, China, Thailand, Moldova, and Saudi Arabia. Each conversation reinforced just how global this industry is and how many students and families rely on expert guidance to navigate the transition to UK education.
It was also fantastic to meet with service providers who were keen to learn more about The Tutors’ Association and explore ways to support our members. It’s encouraging to see so much interest in tutoring as a crucial part of student success, particularly in the context of international student recruitment. Many of these providers recognise the increasing demand for high-quality tuition, whether in exam preparation, academic support, or cultural adaptation for students making the move to the UK.
A real highlight of the conference was gaining a deeper understanding of an industry that operates so closely to our own. While tutoring and English language learning may sound similar they each have their own pains; however there is huge potential for collaboration to overcome them —from helping students prepare for entrance exams to supporting them with language skills, academic readiness, and cultural confidence before they arrive. It’s clear that working together can enhance the student experience and ensure a smoother transition for those embarking on their studies in the UK.
The seminars at StudyWorld were equally insightful, covering everything from marketing strategies to AI advancements and the challenges faced by the English Language Learning community. The discussions around AI in education were particularly thought-provoking, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges that technology presents. Meanwhile, hearing firsthand about the barriers faced by English Language Learning students was a stark reminder of how essential high-quality support is—not just in language acquisition, but in building confidence and academic success.
A huge thank you to the organisers at Study World and everyone I had the chance to meet and speak with! The connections made and ideas exchanged over the last few days have been truly inspiring. I’m looking forward to continuing these conversations and exploring new ways to work together to support students on their educational journeys.
