One of the most common criticisms levelled at home-educating parents is the issue of limiting social contact. This can be overcome by joining clubs for sport, music, drama and other hobbies and working hard to keep up existing friendships. However, it is difficult to avoid the feel of isolation that some students feel when it comes to their studies. Particularly at A Level, group sessions and debate are a healthy and important part of learning. Creating a peer group of fellow students is difficult to achieve but it really can help with older students.
