President’s Update – April ’24

The Tutors’ Association continues to grow and offer an ever-greater range of events, benefits, and opportunities. In April we have launched a range of free, accredited CPD courses for all members, in conjunction with Academize. This is in addition to the free Spotlight series and monthly safeguarding sessions which are already on offer to members. At the same time, we have been able to keep membership fees frozen for the tenth year running – offering outstanding value for money for new and old members alike.

We have been especially delighted to receive a record-breaking number of nominations – over 250 – for this year’s National Tutoring Awards, the annual event showcasing excellence in the tuition sector. It is extraordinary having seen this event grow over the last three years to the scale it is today, truly representing every part of the tuition sector including individual tutors, tuition businesses and suppliers to the tuition sector. If you haven’t yet booked tickets and travel to attend the awards ceremony on Friday the 21st of June then why not book it now and save?

The National Tutoring Awards (NTA) this year promises to be the largest and best yet, with a wide range of members from all over the country (and some members/suppliers from around the world) to meet and network with. It is one of the highlights of the tuition calendar and a night not to be missed!

As well as the National Tutoring Awards, Thursday the 27th of June marks the inaugural Tuition and Schools Summit (TSS). As the NTP winds down and we head towards a general election, there is a chance for us, as a sector, to investigate and define how tuition can and should intersect with mainstream schooling, outside of the straightjacket of government-mandated tuition programmes. There is a chance to work with schools of all kinds, independent and state, to help them to deliver the very best education possible to their students and address knowledge gaps, skills deficits and tackle their most pressing issues together.

TTA continues to champion the interests of members in the UK and around the world. We are continuing to make plans for the tuition trade mission to China in September, which will include a range of options for companies and individual tutors to be involved including attending yourself and also being represented by TTA. In addition to this, TTA is actively exploring opportunities for members in the Middle East and South East Asia.

If you are looking for more work, or seeking to recruit tutors, TTA is pleased to offer a jobs board as well, which is becoming increasingly popular. Whether you’re looking for work or need to recruit good tutors, TTA’s jobs board is a brilliant place to post and apply for potential new jobs as exam season gets into full swing!
