31 January is the Self Assessment filing deadline

31 January is the SA filing deadline for businesses who have traded for a complete tax year.

HMRC continues to work with TTA to improve their tax offer to their members and readers, via their website, newsletters and providing technical expertise at their conference. If you received income for tutoring services, either part or full time, between 6 April 2023 and 5 April 2024, you may need to file a return and pay any tax owing before 31 January 2025 to avoid penalties.

Go to HMRC guidance on GOV.UK or watch HMRC’s short YouTube video for more information. TTA’s bespoke tax page, accessible from Tutors & Corporates on our home page, also has specific guidance for tutors in our newly updated VAT section.
