Every year, the National Tutoring Awards shine a light on the tutors, tuition businesses, and partners who go above and beyond to make a real difference in students’ lives. And every year, I’m reminded of just how special our community is—dedicated professionals committed to transforming education through their passion, expertise, and hard work.
With applications now open for 2025, I wanted to take a moment to highlight what makes these awards so important—and why we’re so proud of the process behind them.
Fair, Free, and Open to All
One of the things that makes the National Tutoring Awards stand out is that applying is completely free. There’s no entry fee, no hidden costs, and absolutely no way to pay to win. This has been the case since the awards were founded, and it always will be.
If you’re shortlisted or win an award, it’s because an independent panel of judges—experts from across the sector—have carefully reviewed your application and agreed that you deserve to be recognised.
Which brings me to…
How the Awards Are Judged
The integrity of these awards is something we take incredibly seriously. Our judging panel is made up of experienced, respected professionals in education and tutoring, who follow a rigorous and structured scoring process.
Here’s how it works:
✅ Every application is reviewed individually against clear, predefined criteria.
✅ Judges use a structured scoring matrix to ensure consistency and fairness.
✅ Each category is assigned two judges, who initially score applications independently before working together to decide a shortlist of up to 10 finalists.
✅ Judges then agree on one winner and one finalist, with the option for two finalists if the decision is too close for them to call.
✅ If judges have further questions about an applicant, they can request additional clarification or a follow-up conversation before making a final decision.
No single person decides the outcome. No shortcuts. No behind-the-scenes deals. Just a transparent, merit-based process designed to recognise those who are truly making an impact!
To ensure fairness and to prevent any applicants from contacting judges about their submission, we only announce the judging panel after applications close.
More Than an Award – A Celebration of Impact
Winning or even being shortlisted for a National Tutoring Award isn’t just about a trophy. It’s about celebrating the impact tutors, tuition businesses, and partners have on their students and communities.

To keep things fair and transparent, we have systems in place to ensure the integrity of public voting—because just like the rest of the awards, it’s all about celebrating real impact rather than popularity contests.
