June has marked the start of a spectacular summer, with the sun shining brightly, exams finishing and tutors getting ready for several quieter months when they can focus on themselves, attending TTA’s Summer Sessions online, Brighton Regional Event on the 11th of July or taking a well-earned break.
In June, we’ve celebrated the phenomenal National Tutoring Awards and what an event it has become. Congratulations to all the winners, finalists and shortlisted nominations for their hard-won achievements. Huge thanks are due to Sam, who organised the whole event, our new Vice President, Richard, for announcing the winners, Julius for his hard work behind the scenes throughout and all of our sponsors especially our Platinum sponsor, Pencil Spaces.
Already, attention is turning to the 8th National Tutors’ Conference set to be held on the 24th of October which already has a full and exciting line-up of speakers from across the sector. It is definitely going to be well worth setting a calendar alert to book train tickets later in July, when they are first released, to make sue you can be part of the biggest tuition event of the year!
As well as the 8th National Tutors’ Conference, TTA is continuing to offer fantastic value for members in all sorts of ways. We are leading the way on international business development with our China Trade Mission, confirmed to be going ahead in September this year; planning is already underway for potential future trade missions to other priority markets.
For those with a focus on the domestic UK market, everyone will be aware that the General Election is taking place imminently on the 4th of July. As you would expect, TTA is championing the cause of tutors behind the scenes, seeking universal DBS checks for tutors instead of heavy-handed and unenforceable regulation, alongside increased representation for the tuition sector within the Department for Business and Trade and protecting school pupil premium budgets.
Whatever you’re doing over summer, you can be sure that TTA will continue to be there to support its members – and, if you’re not a member, there’s never been a better time to join!
